A scientific and technological collaboration agreement was signed at Palazzo Steri
On April 27, at Palazzo Steri, during the conference launching the “Providentia” prevention campaign, ASP Palermo and Fondazione HEAL Italia signed a scientific and technological collaboration agreement aimed at developing innovative Precision Medicine models. The agreement seeks to strengthen personalized prevention, early diagnosis, and targeted treatment of diseases, with particular attention to oncology, rare diseases, metabolic diseases, and cardiovascular diseases.
A strategic alliance to innovate prevention
The agreement is part of the path launched by Fondazione HEAL Italia to make Precision Medicine increasingly accessible to citizens and more fully integrated into local healthcare services. The goal is to promote a new prevention model capable of identifying in advance the risk of developing certain diseases, also through the use of genetic testing and the integration of clinical, genetic, and biological data.
The Workshops for Precision Medicine
At the heart of the agreement is the creation of the “Workshops for Precision Medicine – HEAL Italia,” an infrastructure designed to accelerate technology transfer, develop skills, and foster the introduction of 4.0 innovations into clinical practice. This model aims to connect research, prevention, diagnosis, and care, helping to build increasingly personalized and predictive healthcare pathways.
Prevent earlier, treat better
As emphasized by the Director General of ASP Palermo, Alberto Firenze, the collaboration with HEAL Italia makes it possible to introduce innovative tools capable of changing the approach to prevention. Genetic tests, in particular, can help identify early the risk of developing certain diseases and build personalized pathways for each citizen, with positive effects on both quality of life and the organization of healthcare services.
From medicine “for all” to medicine “for each individual”
The agreement represents a further step in HEAL Italia’s journey to consolidate a stable, polycentric, and widespread national network dedicated to Precision Medicine. The Foundation, established thanks to PNRR NextGenerationEU and managed by the Ministry of Research, works to overcome the fragmentation of the sector and promote an approach that places the individual characteristics of each person at the center.
Palermo as a laboratory for healthcare innovation
The signing of the agreement confirms Palermo’s role as a place for discussion and experimentation with new healthcare models based on research, technology, and prevention. Through the collaboration between ASP Palermo and Fondazione HEAL Italia, Precision Medicine is becoming increasingly integrated into prevention and care pathways, helping to shape a healthcare system that is closer to citizens’ needs, more predictive, personalized, and sustainable.
